Great starter kitFeb 14, 2010 My 4-year old son received Magformers as a birthday gift. He enjoys playing with them and spends a good deal of time creating. They are easy to use (our 2-year old likes them too!) and very sturdy. We will need to get a second kit as his ideas and building have outgrown the 30-piece kit.
Fun to play with but word of caution. . .Dec 26, 2009 We got two sets of these for our kids for Christmas and we had also bought them a Nintendo DSI. My husband made sure that before Christmas we kept the Magformers and the DSI's apart from each other because he said the magnets will damage the DSI. Well today after all the presents were opened we somehow forgot about that rule throughout the day and by the end of the day, my daughters DSI screen had stopped working. Other than that, they are great to play with and the kids love them.
What's the deal with the price?Dec 14, 2009 My son just got this set from his grandmother yesterday for his 4th birthday and he loves them very much. Nice idea, well executed. However, these suffer from the same sly marketing technique as most of these cool building sets. You get a nice set like this 30 piece unit. It includes a brochure with dozens of cool things you can build ... wait, no, only if you have *more* pieces! There are only about 5 of the 20 or so images in the brochure that you can build with this set. Not cool. My 4 year old doesn't understand why he can't build the other ones... So I'm off looking for add-on sets today.

Fun for ALL ages.May 14, 2009 I have purchased 5 sets of the Magformers now. I have 6 grandchildren ranging 2-11 and ALL of them are drawn to these Magformers like little magnets themselves. The creativity and learning that comes from playing with these is wonderful. As a retired elementary school teacher, I highly recommend Magformers for all ages of children. One set is not usually enough to be super creative with, so I suggest getting as many as you can. I store them in a plastic storage box and the children know tight where to find them and where to put them away to. If you put them out and show them what can be done with them....leave them alone...and watch the magnificent creative play begin. It will amaze you and them also.

MagformersApr 08, 2009 Great product, the recommendation I have is that you need several sets to make anything big or for more then 1 child. All of my children from ages 3-11 love these and they are still the most played with toy since Christmas.
